Quadville Update!

When I started this blog I thought I would be much better at keeping it updated, but I soon found out that it isn't easy to keep up on anything with quadruplets! :) The blog has taken the back burner lately, so I thought I better take the opportunity to update it while the babies are all napping.

I read my last posting, and cannot believe how fast our precious little babies are growing and changing! We are so lucky to have such healthy, sweet, and happy little babies! Everyone is really smiling, cooing, and even starting to laugh out loud now! It is the best feeling in the world to wake up in the morning, and find four smiling little babies in their cribs! We are so blessed!

This week, the babies had their four month check-up and shots. I always hate it when they have to get shots because they are so heart broken every time! They don't see it coming, and it breaks my heart every time! Everyone is doing great though, which is what is important. They are all gaining weight, and developing well. The doctor gave the OK to try rice cereal with them at any time. So far, we have given it to Emme, Max, and Brady. The doctor would like us to wait until Sophie is off her oxygen to give it to her. Emme and Brady loved it, but Max was not a fan! Max got impatient, and wanted his bottle. Emme got a tummy ache after she had it, so I think we are going to try again in a few weeks or so. Since they were born 10 weeks premature, their gestational age is more like a 1-2 month old, so we are in no big hurry. It was fun to try though and see their reactions to the texture.

We also got the OK from the doctor to start weaning Sophie from her oxygen. Right now she is on 1/2 liter of oxygen, so we will start turning her down to 1/4 liter during the day and see how she does. If she tolerates it OK, we'll keep her turned down at night, and then during her feedings. If that all goes OK, we'll turn her down again, and repeat the same process. We are so ready for her to be off oxygen, but do not want to rush her. It will be so nice when we can pick her up and not have to worry about cords, or accidentally unhooking her oxygen! This too will soon be only a memory!

We are patiently waiting for the weather to warm up enough, so we can get outside and go for walks! This winter has been WAY too long, but in a way I guess it's a good thing they were born during the winter months. This way, we were never tempted to take them out as newborns. We are praying that we all continue to stay healthy!

We also had our NICU follow-up appointment this week. The babies are all doing well developmentally, and are getting close to being on the growth chart for height and weight. We still need to work hard giving them lots of tummy time to strengthen their necks. It was so much fun to see some of the nurses who took care of our babies. We spent so much time in the NICU and are so greatful to all the wonderful nurses and doctor's. We couldn't have gotten through that experience without them!

Well, it's feeding time again, so I better get going. Hopefully it won't take me as long to post an update next time! :)
